What Happens to My Advance If I Leave HyDistro?
If you have an active Direct Advance, you cannot leave HyDistro until it’s been fully recouped. This applies regardless of how you attempt to leave.
What “leaving” doesn’t change
An outstanding advance stays tied to your account and your royalties until it’s fully recouped, even if you:
- Cancel your subscription
- Downgrade your plan
- Delete your account
- Take down or move your songs to another distributor
In all of these cases, your royalties will continue to be collected from your future earnings until the advance is fully recouped.
Why this happens
A Direct Advance is a payment made against your future royalties. Recoupment is how that advance gets paid back — so as long as a balance remains, HyDistro continues collecting from earnings tied to your catalogue to repay it, independent of your account or subscription status.
Summary
The only way to fully close out an advance is to reach full recoupment. Cancelling, downgrading, deleting your account, or moving your music elsewhere does not cancel or reduce what’s owed.
