How Do I Connect My Spotify and Apple Music Profiles So My Releases Map Correctly?

Connecting your existing Spotify and Apple Music artist profiles tells stores exactly which artist your release belongs to. Without this, stores have to guess — which is how releases end up on the wrong profile or on a brand new duplicate profile instead of the one you’ve already built.

When to connect your profiles

Connect them before you submit a release, not after. Once a release has been delivered to stores under the wrong mapping, fixing it is far more work than getting it right upfront.

How to connect them, step by step

  1. Log into your HyDistro account and open your dashboard.
  2. On the left-hand sidebar, find and click My Artists.
  3. Find the artist profile you want to connect and open it. If you’re adding a brand new artist, click to add one instead.
  4. If you’re adding a new artist, you’ll see fields to add these streaming links.
  5. Paste your Spotify Artist ID or link into the Spotify field.
  6. Paste your Apple Music Artist ID or link into the Apple Music field.
  7. Save.

Where to find your Spotify artist link

  1. Open Spotify and go to your artist profile.
  2. Click the three dots (…) on your profile.
  3. Choose Share, then Copy link to artist.
  4. Paste that link into the Spotify field on HyDistro.

Where to find your Apple Music artist link

  1. Open Apple Music and go to your artist page.
  2. Use the share option on your artist page and copy the link.
  3. Paste that link into the Apple Music field on HyDistro.

If you’ve never released music before

If this is genuinely your first release and you don’t have existing profiles yet, leave these fields empty. Stores will create a new artist profile for you automatically, and you can claim it afterwards through Spotify for Artists and Apple Music for Artists.

Changing a connected link later

If you need to update a Spotify or Apple Music link that’s already connected, that change goes through team review rather than applying instantly, since it affects how your releases are matched. See Can I Change My Artist Name? for how review works on artist profile changes.

Why this matters

Correct mapping keeps every release you put out building on the same profile — your followers, your monthly listeners, your streaming history, and your catalog all stay together in one place instead of being split across duplicate profiles.

Summary: Connecting your existing Spotify and Apple Music artist profiles tells stores which artist your release belongs to, preventing it from landing on a wrong or duplicate profile. To connect them, open your dashboard, click My Artists in the sidebar, open the artist profile, switch on “Has this artist released music before?” if adding a new artist, then paste in your Spotify Artist ID or link and Apple Music Artist ID or link and save. Do this before submitting a release, since fixing a wrong mapping afterwards takes far more work. If you’ve genuinely never released before, leave the fields empty and stores will create a new profile you can claim later. Updating an already-connected link goes through team review.
