What Is AI Music Mastering and How Does It Work?
AI Mastering lets you upload a track and get a professional, release-ready master back in minutes — no studio booking, no waiting on an engineer’s availability, and no technical knowledge required.
What mastering actually does
Mastering is the final polish on a finished mix. It balances the overall sound, controls dynamics, and brings your track up to the loudness levels streaming platforms expect, so it sits properly alongside other music on Spotify, Apple Music, and every other major platform rather than sounding quiet or thin by comparison.
How it works, step by step
Step 1: Upload your track
Visit our Music Mastering page and Upload your audio file. Accepted formats are WAV, MP3, AIFF, and FLAC, up to 100MB.
Upload the highest quality version of your mix that you have. The better the file going in, the better the master coming out — starting from a heavily compressed file limits what mastering can do.
Step 2: Select your mode and master your track
Choose between Basic and Advanced mastering, then hit Master My Track. Processing takes seconds.
See What’s the Difference Between Basic and Advanced AI Mastering? for help choosing between the two.
Step 3: Preview, then download
You get a free 30-second preview of your master before paying anything. Listen to it, and if you’re happy with how it sounds, download your full studio-quality master — it’s then ready to release.
Free unlimited previews
You can run as many previews as you like, on either Basic or Advanced, completely free. There’s no commitment at the preview stage — you only pay when you’ve decided you’re happy and want to download the full master.
What you get
Your master comes back as a studio-quality WAV — the format recommended for official distribution. There’s no format decision to make; every master is delivered release-ready.
Streaming-loudness ready
Masters are tuned to match the loudness standards used by Spotify, Apple Music, and other major platforms, so your track translates properly across all of them without being noticeably quieter or louder than everything around it.
How long it takes
Minutes, not days. Processing happens in seconds, and the only time you spend is listening back and deciding you’re happy.
What it costs
Pricing depends on which mode you choose:
- Basic mastering — $3.99
- Advanced mastering — $6.99
You only pay when you download. There are no studio fees, no engineer booking costs, and no hidden add-ons.
Paying in your local currency
You can pay in Naira, Cedis, Shillings, Rand, US Dollars and a range of other local currencies, so there’s no need to deal with card conversion issues or unexpected exchange fees at checkout.
Mastering a full project
Bulk or multi-track mastering isn’t supported at the moment, so tracks are mastered one at a time. You can master as many tracks as you like this way — just run them individually. Since pricing is per track, you can work through an EP or album incrementally and only pay for the tracks you actually download.
Distributing your mastered track
Once your track is mastered, you can take it straight into HyDistro’s distribution flow and release it. See How Do I Upload Music to Hydistro? for the release process.
Which genres it works for
The engine is trained on professionally mastered records across a wide range of genres — afrobeats, amapiano, hip-hop, pop, R&B, gospel, electronic and more. Since previews are free, the most reliable way to know how it handles your specific track is simply to run one and listen.
Summary: AI Mastering takes your finished mix and returns a professional, release-ready master in minutes. Upload a WAV, MP3, AIFF or FLAC file up to 100MB, choose between Basic and Advanced mastering, then hit Master My Track. You get a free 30-second preview before paying, and can run unlimited previews on either mode at no cost — payment only happens when you decide to download, at $3.99 for Basic or $6.99 for Advanced. Masters come back as studio-quality WAV, tuned to the loudness standards of Spotify, Apple Music and other major platforms. You can pay in Naira, Cedis, Shillings, Rand, US Dollars and other local currencies. Pricing is per track, so EPs and albums can be done one song at a time, and a mastered track can go straight into HyDistro’s distribution flow.
