Why Is My Smart Link Empty?

Tools · 3 min read · Updated Oct 2, 2026

If you open your Smart Link and there are no store buttons on it, the usual reason is simple: your release isn’t live on stores yet.

How Smart Links get their store buttons

Smart Links are created automatically when your release goes live. The store buttons on the page — Spotify, Apple Music, and the rest — are pulled in once your release actually exists on those platforms. Until a store has your music live, there’s nothing for the Smart Link to point to on that store, so no button appears.

The main reasons a Smart Link is empty

Your release isn’t live yet

If your release is still in review, approved but not yet delivered, or scheduled for a future release date, it isn’t on stores yet — so your Smart Link has nothing to link to. This is by far the most common reason.

Stores are still processing your release

Even after HyDistro delivers your release, each store takes its own time to process and publish it. During that window your release exists but isn’t yet live, so the links aren’t available. See How Long Do Stores Take to Process Music?.

Only some stores have gone live

Stores don’t all publish at the same moment, so it’s normal to see a Smart Link with a few buttons rather than all of them. The rest fill in as each remaining store publishes your release.

What to do

  1. Check your release status first — open your catalog, find the release, and open it to see where it stands. If it’s still under review or scheduled for a future date, the empty Smart Link is expected and there’s nothing to fix.
  2. If your release is already live, check its per-platform status to see which stores have actually published it. See Where Can I View Platform Status?.
  3. Give stores time to finish processing if your release has only just gone out.

If your release is live everywhere but the Smart Link is still empty

If your release has been live on stores for a while and your Smart Link still has no buttons, you can add store links to it manually from your Smart Links page, or contact support to have it looked at. See Step By Step On How To Edit Or Create Smart Link (Release & Bio Link) for how to add links yourself.

Summary: A Smart Link appears empty when your release isn’t live on stores yet. Smart Links are created automatically and pull in their store buttons once your music actually exists on each platform, so if your release is still under review, scheduled for a future date, or still being processed by stores, there’s nothing for the link to point to. It’s also normal to see only some buttons at first, since stores don’t all publish at the same time. Check your release status and per-platform status to confirm where things stand. If your release has been live everywhere for a while and the Smart Link is still empty, you can add store links manually from your Smart Links page or contact support.
