How Does the Same Artist for All Tracks Option Work?
If every track on your EP or album shares the same artist credits, you can use the Same Artist for All Tracks option to avoid re-entering those credits for each individual track.
How it works
Instead of manually adding your artist credits to every single track in a multi-track release, you can enable this option once at the release level. HyDistro then automatically applies those same credits across all tracks in the release — and this covers all three artist types:
- Primary Artist — the main artist credited on the release.
- Various Artists — used when a release features multiple main artists at the release level (see How Do Various Artists Work?).
- Additional Artists — contributors like featured artists or other credited roles (see How Do Additional Artists and Roles Work?).
When this option is enabled, whichever combination of Primary Artist, Various Artists, and Additional Artists you’ve set at the release level is passed across every track automatically — you don’t need to re-select them individually per track.
When to use it
- Your EP or album has the same artist credits (primary, various, and/or additional) across every single track, with no variation.
When not to use it
If your release features different artist credits on different tracks — for example, a various-artists compilation, or an album where guest features change from track to track — leave this option off and assign artist credits individually per track instead.
What about contributors?
This option applies specifically to artist credits — Primary, Various, and Additional Artists. Behind-the-scenes contributors like producers or engineers are still added separately, as covered in How Do Contributors Work?.
Why it’s useful
For most single-lineup EPs and albums, this saves you from repeating the same artist entries across every track, while still ensuring each track is correctly credited.
