Why Did My Earnings Decrease?

Why Did My Earnings Decrease?

There are several legitimate reasons your earnings or wallet balance might look lower than expected. Here’s how to check each one before assuming something is wrong.

Recent withdrawal

If you’ve recently withdrawn funds, your wallet balance will naturally be lower — this isn’t a decrease in what you’ve earned, just a reflection of funds already paid out to you.

Withdrawal fees

Standard withdrawal fees are deducted as part of processing a withdrawal — see How To Withdraw My Royalties? for how this works.

Currency display (not an actual loss)

If you’ve changed your preferred currency, the amount shown can look different simply because of live exchange rate conversion — this does not mean money is missing or that your actual earnings decreased. It only affects how the amount is displayed. See Why Do Prices Look Different After I Changed My Currency? for a full explanation of why this happens.

HyDistro Funding Charge

If you have an active Direct Advance, a separate HyDistro Funding Charge is collected from your earnings balance over time — see What Fees Apply to Advances? for details on how this works.

Recoupment

If you have an active Direct Advance, your royalties are also being applied toward recoupment of that advance — see How Does the Recoupment Ledger Work? for how this reduces your available balance as it pays down your advance.

If none of these explain it

If you’ve checked all of the above and none of them explain the change, contact support immediately. You should also double-check that no one else has unauthorized access to your account — see How Can I Keep My Account Secure? for steps to help secure your account.

Summary: A lower-than-expected balance usually has a legitimate explanation: a recent withdrawal, standard withdrawal fees, a currency display change from live exchange rate conversion (which doesn’t mean money is missing), a HyDistro Funding Charge on an active advance, or ongoing recoupment against an advance. Check each of these first. If none of them explain the change, contact support immediately and make sure no one else has unauthorized access to your account.
